I’m Back: Making AI Simple for Non-Engineers Like Me
Three years ago, I wrote my first few articles here on Medium. I shared what I knew, learned, and experienced. But somewhere along the way, life got busy, goals shifted, and writing took a backseat.
Today, I’m back. This time, with a clear mission:
To help non-engineers like me break into AI and Data Science.
Who Am I?
I’m Harjot Kaur, a strategy and analytics professional with 12 years’ of experience solving complex problems using data.
I’m NOT an engineer by background — I started with a Bachelor’s in Commerce, followed by an MBA and an Executive Program in Business Analytics and Intelligence. But I’ve always believed in the power of learning. Along this journey - I moved countries and changed jobs, I faced challenges adapting to new environments, yet, I never stopped learning.
Today, I’m pursuing the MicroMasters in Statistics and Data Science from MITx (an online teaching format by MIT), while leading Market Segmentation and Growth Strategies at a Utility company in the U.S. I’m living proof that learning is possible no matter where life takes you!
Why Am I Here?
I want to share what I’m learning at MIT in the most simplified, accessible way. My goal is to:
- Break down the math behind AI and ML — without the jargon.
- Share tips and resources that worked for me as a non-engineer.
- Motivate others who feel like AI is “not for them.”
If I can help even one person feel confident enough to take their first step, it will be worth it.
